Framed In Grain opens with a 2008 Cooley single grain, pairing mature Irish whiskey with Joseph Gervin’s artwork, “BogStandArt”. The painting features on both the bottle label and presentation box.
Inside is a silky, fruit-led whiskey with vanilla cream, baked apple and caramelised sweetness. Its bourbon and Oloroso maturation brings dried fruit and toasted almond into balance with honeyed grain and gentle spice – a detailed introduction to our series celebrating Irish whiskey and art.
Tasting notes:
Nose: Bright and inviting. Ripe orchard fruits layered with vanilla cream and soft caramel. The Oloroso influence brings dried fruits, toasted almond, and a gentle raisin sweetness.
Palate: Silky and composed. Honeyed grain sweetness leads into caramelised sugar, baked apple, and light toffee. Mid-palate reveals dried fig, sultana, and a touch of nutty sherry richness, balanced by soft spice.
Finish: Medium-long and refined. Sweetness fades gradually into gentle oak tannin, with lingering notes of vanilla, dried fruit, and a delicate, warming spice.
