Habanos S.A., the Cuban cigar distributor, has introduced the Cohiba Siglo de Oro, marking both the Lunar New Year and the 30th anniversary of the renowned Línea 1492 brand, also known as the “Siglo Series.”

The Cohiba Siglo de Oro comes in 18-count boxes and features dimensions of 4 1/2 inches by 54 ring gauge, a size referred to as Exitosos in Cuban cigar manufacturing. Limited to 18,888 boxes, the production number is symbolic, as the number 8 holds significance in Chinese tradition.

Each Cohiba Siglo de Oro cigar sports a secondary band representing the Year of the Rabbit, the current year in the Chinese zodiac. The ornate box bears the inscription "Year of the Rabbit" alongside a stylised logo commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Línea 1492 brand, introduced in 1992, although the celebration is belated considering it's now 2024.

Given the prevalence of counterfeit Cohiba cigars, each box includes an NFC chip embedded in the inner lid for instant authentication via smartphone scanning. This integration of NFC technology marks a significant first for Cuban cigar packaging.
