The Macallan Double Cask 15 Year Old is a rounded Speyside single malt with a warm, sweetly spiced character. It brings together the vanilla-led sweetness of American oak and the richer fruit and spice associated with European oak.
Butterscotch, baked apple and dried fruit introduce a layered flavour profile, followed by creamy vanilla, raisins and warming baking spices. Chocolate and oak add depth without overshadowing the fruit.
This expression suits drinkers who enjoy sherry-influenced whisky with a balance of sweetness, mature oak and gentle spice.
Tasting notes:
Nose: Dried fruit, toffee and vanilla with smooth oak and baked apple. Balanced with notes of honey and chocolate.
Palate: Sweet raisin and sultana builds with hints of vanilla, wood spice and citrus.
Finish: Warm with ginger turning to caramel and citrus, with a lingering and creamy mouth feel.
