The Irishman Single Malt is a triple-distilled Irish whiskey made entirely from Irish barley. Honeyed malt and candied fruit define its character, with bourbon and Oloroso sherry cask maturation bringing together sweetness, dried fruit and oak spice.
Tasting notes:
Nose: An orchard inside a big box of fudge with a great big gold bow on top. There’s a rich and honeyed maltiness too. Everything ripe, fruity and candied hovering in the air above the glass.
Palate: With your first sip, it goes deeper - staying sweet but taking you right down through the rich golden whiskey. (Its colour coming from the natural aging in bourbon and oloroso sherry casks.) Then come the layers. You might think of a big slice of cake - with toasted almonds and runny honey. A dusting of cocoa. All good stuff, in every bit of every sip. The last drop, savour it, malty and oaky. It’s gentle for sure, but no pushover.
Finish: Long lingering finish. Not so much a finish, more of an encore.
