Connemara Distillers Edition Peated Single Malt

Connemara Distillers Edition is a distinctive expression of Ireland’s celebrated peated single malt, combining its signature earthy smoke with the rich, fruit-forward influence of Oloroso sherry casks.

Initially matured in ex-bourbon barrels before being finished in a carefully selected combination of Oloroso sherry casks, the whiskey balances Connemara’s characteristic turf smoke with layers of orchard fruit, honeyed malt and gentle sweetness. Bottled at 43% ABV, it offers an expressive yet remarkably smooth drinking experience.

The nose opens with grassy, earthy smoke reminiscent of a smouldering campfire, brightened by crisp green apple and citrus. Beneath lie darker notes of bramble fruit and raisin, alongside subtle herbal and mineral nuances. On the palate, soft sweetness develops into charcoal smoke, baked apple and forest fruits, complemented by vanilla, smoked citrus and cracked black pepper. A touch of salinity brings freshness and definition, while the Oloroso influence contributes dried fruit and gentle nuttiness.

The finish is warm and lingering, with peat smoke, cereal notes and an appealingly oily texture gradually giving way to woody spice and residual sweetness.

Enjoy neat at room temperature to appreciate its full character, or add a few drops of water to reveal more of its fruit, sweetness and saline complexity. An excellent after-dinner whiskey, it also pairs particularly well with smoked salmon, mature cheddar, soft cheeses and charcuterie.
