Framed In Grain Vol. 1 introduces the series with a striking marriage of Irish whiskey craftsmanship and contemporary art. This inaugural release is drawn from a single cask of carefully matured Irish whiskey – unhurried, unblended, and bottled at natural strength to preserve the depth of its character.

The whiskey is a refined 2008 Single Grain from Cooley Distillery, initially aged in an ex-bourbon cask (13 years), then moved to a first-fill Oloroso Sherry cask (2 years), and finished in a refill ex-bourbon cask (2 years). Bright, elegant, and layered with ripe fruit and caramelised sweetness.

Vol. 1 features a piece called "BogStandArt", created by Joseph Gervin – an Irish visual artist and designer.

Each whiskey released within the Framed In Grain series is limited to the yield of the particular cask, and intricately connected with a piece of contemporary Irish art, featured on the box and label.

Every bottle is individually numbered and presented in a presentation box created exclusively for the series. Only a very limited number of bottles exist – for Vol. 1, 290 bottles were made, making it not only the beginning of the Framed In Grain journey, but a rare and expressive piece of Irish whiskey culture overall.

Tasting notes:
Nose: Bright and inviting. Ripe orchard fruits layered with vanilla cream and soft caramel. The Oloroso influence brings dried fruits, toasted almond, and a gentle raisin sweetness.

Palate: Silky and composed. Honeyed grain sweetness leads into caramelised sugar, baked apple, and light toffee. Mid-palate reveals dried fig, sultana, and a touch of nutty sherry richness, balanced by soft spice.

Finish: Medium-long and refined. Sweetness fades gradually into gentle oak tannin, with lingering notes of vanilla, dried fruit, and a delicate, warming spice.
