A celebration of heritage and innovation, Boann Summer Solstice 2025 Vintage Mashbill #7 marks the latest chapter in Boann Distillery’s acclaimed Solstice series. Crafted entirely on site in County Meath, this limited-edition release unites historical Irish mash bills with modern distilling excellence.

Triple distilled in custom Italian copper pot stills and bottled at cask strength (59.6% ABV), this whiskey is a vatting of two extraordinary casks:

  • Cask No. 2291 – a rejuvenated French oak barrique from a Premier Cru Classé château on Bordeaux’s Left Bank.
  • Cask No. 2301 – an Oloroso hogshead from Montilla-Moriles, coopered by J.L. Rodriguez from vintage staves and virgin American oak heads.

Filled on 9 December 2020, both casks held Boann’s historically inspired mixed mash bill of 30 % malted barley, 40 % unmalted barley, and 30 % wheat—a recipe echoing Ireland’s Wheat Boom era of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Only 554 bottles were drawn from these casks, making this one of the most exclusive Boann releases to date.

On the nose, dried fruits, milk chocolate, caramel, and toasted oak give way to floral and pine notes. The palate is textured and savoury, revealing hazelnuts, orange zest, and baking spice, while the French oak imparts structure and the wheat lends softness and warmth. The long, dry finish unfolds in a crescendo of pepper, oak tannins, and earthy warmth.

Presented in honour of the Summer Solstice, this release encapsulates Boann’s philosophy: to preserve the past while pushing Irish whiskey into its future.
