This is a 13 year old Single Grain, distilled in Cooley Distillery. It’s limited to 324 bottles and bottled at 46% ABV. This whiskey was first matured in a Bourbon cask for 9 years and 2 months, then an Oloroso Cask for 3 years, 10 ½ months.
This 13 year old Single Grain has classic sherry notes of dark fruit and nuts, with plenty of oak spice character. Like all of The Bridge releases, this is a non chill-filtered whiskey with no added colour.
Galey Bay (Irish: An Ghaille) is an inlet on the western shore of Lough Ree in Co Roscommon, notable for being one of the lake's deepest bays. A stream teeming with trout flows into the lake from Lough Oura. The settlement in Galey dates back to the Iron Age, with historical remnants including a promontory fort and the remains of Galey Castle. In the 1980s, a 10th-century log boat was discovered in the bay by a local swimmer and is now exhibited in the Roscommon Museum.
Galey Castle, constructed in 1340 by William Bui O’Kelly of the O’Kelly Clan, was the site of Ireland’s first Fleadh Ceol (music festival) in 1351, where poets, brehons, bards, harpers, gamesters, and jesters gathered for a celebration lasting until St. Bridget’s Day on February 1st. From 1872 to 1912, Lord Crofton of Mote Park hosted a popular annual yachting regatta at Galey Bay. Today, the bay is a serene and scenic location, featuring a family-friendly campsite on the shores of Lough Ree.

Nose: Sweet, nutty, malt loaf with raisins and antique furniture.
Palate: Rich sherry fruit, toasted nuts, tobacco and leather.
Finish: Oak Spice, Caramelised fruit and sherry.
