The first of the brand's experimental cask series, The Battalion is named in memory of the San Patricio Battalion who fought bravely alongside the Mexican Army during the Mexican-American War of 1846–48. Their unit was composed mainly of Irish immigrants, many of whom were from the West Coast of Ireland, and this release is a
nod to their bravery.
As a modern Whiskey Bonder, the JJ Corry team are explorers, curators and creators of unique expressions. They hand-selected two Single Grain Irish Whiskeys from their library of flavours and decanted them into ex-Tequila casks to rest for six months.
The influence of the agave spirits highlights honey and zesty citrus notes, balanced by
spicy caramel notes from the bourbon ageing.
