Ireland’s first Peated Rye!
A European twist to a New World whisky style; here spicy rye is softened by oats, peat and aged in a wonderful cask, heavy with the plum notes of Tempranillo grapes. Bottled at that classic strength of 100 US Proof (50% abv) this whisky was a total bugger to make. Gently pour a glass and you may hear the far off cry of a Head Distiller’s angst.
55% Rye, 31% Malted Barley, 9% Oats, 5% Peated Malt = 100% Irish grown and malted grain.
Distilled 4th June 2020; total maturation in ex-Ribera del Duero cask from Northern Spain.
Head Distiller John Wilcox says: ‘expect Damson jam or warm rye toast, Opal Fruits and a whiff of pipe smoke’
